Gabriel Jesus continued his love affair with the Champions League with a fine goal and assist as he led Arsenal to victory over Sevilla jackpot
The Brazil forward may not boast the most prolific strike record but he has now scored an impressive 23 goals in 41 appearances in Europe’s elite club competition and he was the difference here as the Gunners won 2-1 jackpot
A piece of magic from Jesus set up compatriot Gabriel Martinelli to open the scoring on the stroke of half-time before he doubled the lead with a fine, curling finish of his own – although he later limped off having moments earlier held his hamstring jackpot
A thunderous Nemanja Gudelj header reduced the arrears on the hour but Mikel Arteta’s side saw out the closing stages to secure victory, moving top of Group B in the process jackpot
Martinelli should have put Arsenal ahead inside eight minutes after being played through on goal by Jesus, only to shoot straight at the advancing Orjan Nyland jackpot
Moments later Lucas Ocampos stabbed an effort just wide at the other end as both sides looked to strike early in an atmospheric Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium jackpot
David Raya’s inclusion in the Arsenal goal at the continued expense of Aaron Ramsdale was again a talking point before the game and the Spaniard gifted possession to Sevilla at the midway point of the first half but the home side failed to take advantage jackpot
Neither team created anything else of note until stoppage time when, firstly, Sevilla easily cut through the Arsenal defence but Youssef En-Nesyri failed to hit the target as he dragged a shot wide jackpot
Arsenal then took the lead, having escaped another Sevilla attack they broke at pace and a fine touch and perfectly-weighted pass from Jesus set Martinelli in behind jackpot

The Europa League holders came within inches of equalising soon after, as substitute Mariano Diaz’s strike was tipped onto the crossbar by Raya jackpot
Jesus did not have chance to savour a memorable performance as he gingerly hobbled off to be replaced by Eddie Nketiah with 10 minutes left on the clock jackpot
Arsenal, though, were able to navigate through the difficult closing stages, surviving a late onslaught to secure victory ahead of the return game at the Emirates Stadium in a fortnight’s time, where another three points will leave Arteta’s side sitting pretty jackpot

As often was the case amid an American society embedded in racism in the 1980s, Muhammed Ali put it best jackpot
Advising black racing driver Willy T Ribbs, the people’s champion made his point in no uncertain terms: “There are Blacks in my sport jackpot
But there are no Blacks in your sport jackpot
“They’re going to want to kill you jackpot
”Yet for all the death threats, discrimination and abuse, Ribbs had long decided that the only option was to meet the uphill battle head-on jackpot
He made history in 1986 when he became the first Black driver to test an F1 car jackpot
Five years later, he was the first to race in the Indy 500, one of the world’s most famous events jackpot
But on the course of that journey, Ribbs faced it all jackpot
Don’t let me tell you though; let the man himself jackpot
“Of course, there were death threats, the n-word,” he reflects, in a slow but deadpan fashion that tells you the wounds have long since healed jackpot
Instead, the metaphorical bruises are worn with pride jackpot
“But I enjoyed it jackpot
It didn’t make me mad, it was fun jackpot
I was going to dish out what they were dishing out to me, it never scared or intimidated me jackpot

”Now 68, Ribbs is an ambassador for Formula One, raising awareness for diversity and equality jackpot
A role given a matter of months after his riveting biopic movie, Uppity, was released in 2020 jackpot
So titled because that was his nickname in motorsport circles – “and he loved it” jackpot
But to this interview, he’s late jackpot
And he apologises, quipping: “Race drivers are never late, you know! Or they’re not supposed to be…”Son to William “Bunny” Ribbs, an amateur racer himself, Willy’s career path was set in stone from day dot it seems jackpot

“I watched it from three years old when my dad was racing, watching the likes of Jim Clark and Graham Hill jackpot

But his F1 calling, in ’86, came in the Portuguese town of Estoril jackpot
Bernie Ecclestone’s Brabham team – “Bernie has always been good to Willy T Ribbs” – gave the American the chance to buck the trend and become a true trailblazer jackpot
But the tag was not something he felt comfortable with at the time jackpot

“I had two responsibilities: to myself and to my team jackpot
For those who record social history, that’s their job [to say trailblazer] – but I’m not going to carry that weight on my shoulders jackpot

I was a role model because I was doing something no other Black kid had done jackpot
And great, if that’s the category they want to put me in and how they want to document it jackpot
But for me? It was about going fast jackpot
”It was a mindset of not bowing to the status quo, embodied most especially in the late 20th century by Ali jackpot
“What I admired about him the most was not his jackpot boxing skills,” Ribbs says of Ali jackpot
“What I admired about him was his resolve as a man, not to be squashed, manipulated or controlled jackpot
Ali said: ‘You have to let them know that you can’t be killed, there’s nothing they can do to you, and then they’ll leave you alone for a while jackpot
’”Now in motor racing, the baton has been passed on to seven-time Formula One world champion and the sport’s only Black driver Lewis Hamilton, whom Ribbs is full of praise about jackpot
“Lewis Hamilton, after seven world titles and more victories than any other human being, gets unfairly targeted,” insists Ribbs jackpot
“If you can equate it to Tiger Woods, what did Tiger Woods do for golf? He broadened the audience jackpot
The attention went off the chart jackpot
That’s exactly what happened in F1 – Lewis Hamilton has been Formula One’s Tiger Woods jackpot
“He’s a very kind man jackpot
He’ll let it roll off, turn the other cheek – I wasn’t that way jackpot
He deals with it and in a lot of cases it’s unfair jackpot
Then again, he is in an environment which was not nearly as brutal as I was dealing with jackpot
Willy T Ribbs was treated differently jackpot
”The third-person references point to a man who is now comfortable in his own skin; in the significance of the struggle – and what it means to many around the world jackpot
And despite a sport notoriously still dominated by white men, progress is being made jackpot
“One thing I love about Formula One is not only is it evolving commercially around the world, it’s evolving socially,” he says jackpot
“When F1 hired me, I asked them: ‘What made you make this call?’“They said: ‘We watched your film and we thought you’d be the perfect person for inclusion and equality in Formula One jackpot
’“I said: ‘Well, you called the right guy’ jackpot
